Breville BES990BST Oracle Touch Espresso Machine, Black Stainless Steel is a super automatic espresso machine designed to solve the steep learning curve of manual brewing by offering fully automated grind, dose, and milk texturing. In this review, we break down its real-world performance, core capabilities, and limitations to see if it lives up to the hype. If you are struggling with inconsistent shot quality or complex steaming techniques, this platform delivers a direct solution.
Key Features & Benefits ✨
- ⚡ Auto Grind, Dose & Tamp: Uses Baratza European Precision Burrs with 45 settings to automatically deliver a 22g dose directly into a 58mm professional portafilter, eliminating manual tamping errors.
- 🎯 Touch Screen Automation: Simplifies the workflow into three steps (grind, brew, milk), allowing users to swipe and select specific drinks like lattes or flat whites instantly.
- 🛡️ Dual Boiler Heating System: Features stainless steel boilers with PID temperature control for simultaneous extraction and steaming, ensuring thermal stability shot after shot.
- ✨ Personalized Coffee Profiles: Allows users to adjust strength, temperature, and milk texture to create and save up to 8 unique, named beverage presets.
Pros & Cons ⚖️
✅ What We Like:
- Professional 58mm portafilter ensures full-bodied, rich espresso extraction consistent with cafe standards.
- The “4 keys formula” (dose, temperature, pressure, and microfoam) is fully automated for effortless specialty coffee.
- Dual boiler system removes the need to wait between brewing coffee and steaming milk.
- Premium black stainless steel finish provides a high-end aesthetic and durable build quality.
❌ What Could Be Better:
- The high level of automation may feel restrictive for “purist” baristas who prefer full manual control over every variable.
- Positioned at a premium price point that may be prohibitive for casual, occasional coffee drinkers.
Final Verdict: Is Breville BES990BST Oracle Touch Espresso Machine, Black Stainless Steel Worth It? 🎯
Buy it if: You are a coffee enthusiast who explicitly needs to achieve cafe-quality specialty drinks at home and wants an efficient, reliable tool to manage your morning routine without the manual struggle.
Skip it if: You are on a strict zero-dollar budget, or if you already use a fully manual setup that handles precise dosing and temperature profiling natively.
